After almost two decades of commuting to work and earning an hourly wage from a boss, I made the transition to being a self-employed entrepreneur, with multiple home-based businesses.
Working from home and being my own boss has increased the quality of my life exponentially.
Here are some of my favorite aspects of this lifestyle:
- No more waking up to an alarm clock unless it’s to take my daughter to school.
- No more having to shave and wear work clothes five days a week.
- No more driving in traffic.
- No more having someone else tell me when I need to be at work, when I can take a break, when I can eat, how long my breaks can be, and when I can go home for the day.
- No more having someone tell me what I’m worth.
- No more having someone tell me how many sick days I can take a year.
- No more working all year long to take one pathetic seven-day vacation.
The list goes on and on. There are so many benefits to working from home and being self-employed, I could literally write an ebook on it.
My favorite perk of making money from home is FREEDOM!!!
The amount of freedom and flexibility that comes with making money from home is unbelievable.
Sometimes I have appointments on the phone, but the majority of the time, if I don’t feel like getting any work done, I don’t have to.
I can go surfing, watch Netflix, or do whatever else I feel like.
And when I decide to work, I’m usually relaxing with my legs up, on my laptop or smart phone, and wearing cozy clothes.
How I Make Money From Home
At this point you might be thinking to yourself: “Well that sounds awesome…but HOW do you make money? And more importantly, how can I also make money working from home?”
Let me answer the first question first…
I make money from home several different ways. I have what is referred to as “multiple streams of income.”
In the bullet points below, I’m going to show you my types of income streams, and how I generated over $11,600 last month working 15 hours a week from home and other cool places like sushi restaurants and the beach.
Passive Income Streams (income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it):
- Affiliate Marketing Commissions – $4,295
- Digital Product Sales – $2,008
- Online Advertising Fees – $625
- Network Marketing Residual Income and Retail Profit – $1,163
Total Passive Income: $8,091
Linear Income Streams (get paid once for the work you do once):
- Opiate Recovery Coaching Fees – $1,200
- Blogging and Internet Marketing Consulting Fees $250
- Blogging Workshop Fees – $2,088
- Network Marketing Recruiting Bonus – $130
Total Linear Income: $3,568
Summary
The majority of the time I worked (about 15 hours a week) was from home. A small percentage of the time I worked was at sushi restaurants, the beach, my car, my parent’s home, and a few other remote places.
My combined income was $11,659, which breaks down to $194 an hour.
The best part was how much passive income I earned.
I literally made money while I was sleeping, eating, watching movies, working out, etc.
How cool is that?
My main stream of income during that 30 day period was Affiliate Marketing, but as you can see, there were multiple streams of both passive and active income.
How To Make Money From Home
At this point you might be thinking to yourself:
“Well that’s just great for you…but I don’t know how to blog, create online courses, do affiliate marketing, coach people, do consulting or workshops, and all that other technical stuff.”
Don’t worry…because it’s all good!
There are many other ways to make money from home, many of which require no technical skills.

My Favorite Home-Based Business Venture
Out of all the ways to make money from home, network marketing, in my opinion, is the easiest way for most people to get started and quickly trained.
I used to be ignorant, and didn’t have a high opinion of network marketing.
Once I started researching the industry, something became very clear:
Network marketing is actually a very good way to build a home-based business.
People like Tony Robbins, Sir Richard Branson, and Robert Kiyosaki all endorse network marketing and say it’s a great way to become an entrepreneur.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to take my business and financial advice from people that are self-made millionaires and billionaires (like the people mentioned above)…and I don’t take business advice from people that make less than me and work for someone else.
My eyes really opened to how amazing network marketing is after watching a free documentary on YouTube called Rise of the Entrepreneur.
If you still haven’t found the business that is going to provide you and your family with the money and time-freedom you desire, I encourage you to watch this documentary, which is available on YouTube.
How To Choose The Right Network Marketing Company
I used to believe that network marketing was some sort of scheme and that it wasn’t an effective way to make money.
I was so, so wrong.
Certain companies and people have given the industry a bad reputation, but after doing my research, I found out that you can’t judge an entire industry based on some bad apples.
The truth is, there are many amazing companies, and plenty of network marketing professionals are making a great living promoting products or services that are adding massive values to people’s lives.
According to network marketing icon Eric Worre, if you decide to join a network marketing company, make sure to review the following four elements:
- The Product/Service – Do you like it? Is there a need? Does the product/service meet that need? Is it priced to sell? Is is priced for profit?
- The Company – Is it well run? Do you believe in the management team?
- The Compensation Plan – Can people generate income quickly? Develop moderate part-time income in reasonable time? Possibility for serious full-time income?
- The Support – Website? Reporting tools? Comprehensive training? Events?
Five months ago, I joined my first network marketing company.
First I became a customer, and after taking the products for just four days, I fell in love with the health benefits I was getting.
I did my research on the company, and they passed all four elements Eric Worre says to review. I became an Independent Distributor after eight days on the products and 32 hours of research on the products and company.
There are plenty of great companies out there, but I chose Kyani, because for me, it was the perfect fit.

Conclusion
There are many ways to make money from home. Depending on your personality type, your niche, and many other factors, some methods of making money from home will be a good fit, and some will not resonate with you.
You can focus on passive income, linear income, or a combination of both.
I recommend that you strongly consider focusing on passive income.
Once you get used to passive income flowing in, you’ll realize how important is, and the thought of going without passive income will be devastating.
In fact, passive income is how you become financially free. Here is the simple equation below:
I’m financially free because of passive income. I literally don’t have to work ever again if I don’t want to.
Once the fear of financial insecurity is gone, life truly becomes amazing.
For me, not having to worry about money anymore took away 99% of my stress in life.
You can have this life too.
All it takes is that first step.
